Teen Wolf - Desperation

Fandom: Teen Wolf
Title: Desperation

Concept:
There isn't much of a concept behind this to be honest other then the simple fact that I like to do fan art and I was inspired by a drawing I've seen.

It portrays one of the main characters of a new show from MTV called Teen Wolf. It's a show I've grown progressively more obsessed with over time

Derek Hale, which is the forementioned main character is the typical 'dark, handsome mysterious guy with a tragic past' type character that seams to excist almost everywhere (no complaints from here).

I wanted to showcase Derek's tragedy (those who have seen the show know what I mean but those who haven't - I won't spoil it for you) and couldn't for the longest time decide how to do it until I saw the drawing that ultimately inspired me to do this.

While I was drawing this I was imagening that this was what he felt when he experienced his tragedy. A combination of gut wrenching grief but also rage, the turmoil making him roar into the night.

How:
Unlike most of my art where I have several layers working simultaneously, I wanted to approach this more in the traditional sense even though I did everything on the computer.

This meant that I started out with a blank white canvas and after sketching the initial figure, I started to work myself up (as one would with a drawing) with a 4px custom brush.

The rain, however, was done in a separate layer as I am very uncomfortable with that element and I didn't want to mess Derek up.

This meant that whenever I did screw up (which happened more times then I care to admit) I could just delete it and start again. Ultimately I ended up requesting my sister for help.

This isn't the first Teen Wolf art I've done as I've painted some of my sisters line art but it is the first one that I've done (the majority) myself.

The reason to why I considered this to be a collaboration with BdrixHaettC in the end is simply because I acknowledge the fact that without her I wouldn´t have been able to do the rain and I believe that the rain is such an essential element to this picture that without it, it would have given the picture a compeltely different mood-set.
